It’s Love Y’all

It is no secret I love to sew for myself.  I am the type of person that will whip up a dress when I am having a bad day or throw together a quick shirt because it is date night and I want something new to wear.

What I love even more than sewing for myself is when I can create something new that doesn’t require taping another pattern together.  Because lets all be real, taping a pdf pattern together is the pits.

Ballard Blog Tour Day 9

Joining the blog tour this morning is Kimberly of Pity Kitty, a great tester I have had for both the Ravenna and Ballard patterns.  She sewed up this comfy version of the Ballard that is perfectly paired with grey jeans and flats.

Make sure to head over to her blog to see more of her version of the Ballard pattern.

A few more days of the blog tour are ahead of us, so make sure to come back tomorrow for more great looks.

The Many Views of the Ballard

When creating the Ballard pattern I was focused on the fun and different open back detail for the shirt.  I wanted to create a shirt that is not only comfortable for every day wear but something that is also just a little bit interesting.  I think I have achieved what I was going for with this pattern and people seem to really like it, I know I adore this pattern.

Last week though I was thinking about how I would really like a relaxed fit top to wear that was the same shape a the Ballard but with a closed back.  It never went beyond that thought until with the nudge of the lovely Allie from Indiesew, we started talking about adding alternative versions of the Ballard to the current pattern.

Blog Tour Day 7

Today we have Jess from If Only They Would Nap showing off her shimmery Ballard.  I love that she keeps it real in her blog post because we all appreciate when people are real and tell us what they really think.  Some people like Jess may wonder if they will really like the back of this shirt but I know once they sew it up and wear it out they will realize how great it is.

Make sure you head over to her blog to see more great pictures of her top and to read more on what she thinks.

Ballard Blog Tour Day 6

Today Ajaire of the blog Call Ajaire is joining us for our 6th day of the blog tour.  When she sent over this picture yesterday I got so excited.  Not only is she participating in the blog tour which is exciting in and of itself but do you see what I see in this picture?  See it yet?

Call Ajaire Ballard Top back side

Yes that’s a different fabric for the front and waistband!  I absolutely love taking a pattern and using two different fabrics on it, so it makes me happy when I see others think the way I do.  Make sure to head over to read all about Ajaire’s Ballard top on her blog.

Ballard Blog Tour Day 5

As a pattern designer we are forever grateful for our testers, they help make a pattern even better than where it started.  Amanda of Turtle Birdies was a tester on both Ravenna and Ballard and is now currently testing my third pattern.  She is the type of tester that will be completely honest with you but in the most constructive and nice way possible because she truly wants to make your pattern better.

Amanda so graciously offered to join the blog tour today and you will love what she has done with the pattern.

Ballard Pattern Tour Day 4

This morning our pattern tour is headed to my lovely friend Abby over at Sew Much Ado.  Abby and I both live in Seattle so we had our first ‘date’ at a park this summer with our kids and hit it off instantly.  I was so excited when she agreed to join us for the blog tour.

Today is also the start of the sewalong over at Indiesew.  Get your copy of the Ballard pattern and grab your fabric and head over to read part 1 of the sewalong.

Ballard Blog Tour Day 2

Yesterday I introduced you to my newest pattern, Ballard!  It has become that shirt I wear on repeat because it is so comfortable and can be worn with so much.  I pair it with skinny jeans and moccasins or leggings and boots.  Even better is that this pattern takes no time at all to sew.

As part of the release of this pattern I am hosting a blog tour of some amazing ladies and their Ballard tops.  Today Annie from The Enantiomer Project is sharing her super cozy heathered pink version that she styled amazingly with her leggings and boots.  This is the epitome of comfort while still looking great.
