It feels strange to be back here with a tester call. I worked so long and hard on my last pattern, Capitol Hill, back in October that I knew I needed a little break from patterns to enjoy the holiday season. We did just that and then managed to be sick for the next two months! We are finally all healthy in the house and I feel like myself again which means I could finally sit down and draft this pattern that has been on my mind for many months.

Bag Lady
One of my goals for the year is to really stretch my sewing knowledge and ability. I know each project isn’t going to be a success but I hope to learn from the mistakes and make mistakes better on the next one.
You will see lots of zipper projects this year, I am just rubbish at zippers. It’s sort of funny that my first sewing pattern, Ravenna, has a zipper in it. I have mastered that zipper but on all other patterns I can’t sew in a zipper correctly to save my life 🙂
Make Some Money Why Don’t Ya!
As I eluded to in my post about my paper patterns, I have some really fun and exciting things in store for Straight Stitch Designs this year. Don’t worry, after I wrap up a couple little things I will finally be getting back to what started this whole thing, pattern drafting. My head is swirling with pattern ideas that are just screaming to be put to paper, or computer screen more accurately 🙂
Back to the business at hand.
If you love sewing up Ravenna, Ballard and Capitol Hill as much as I do you now have a chance to make a little money doing it. Who doesn’t love making money on something they are already doing?
No Tape Needed
I have many fun things in store for Straight Stitch Designs in the coming months, I am just so excited about them all I decided to go ahead and show you my first new product hitting the shop for presales tomorrow.
Paper Patterns!
I have been working hard on all of the details for these patterns and I hope you love them as much as I do. Each pattern has full colour printing through out the instruction booklet with the same great instructions and line drawings you would find in the pdf version.
Don’t Fear the Double Pleat
So excited to finally be showing you the ins and outs of the Capitol Hill pattern I created for the Sew Fab Bundle. You still have until tomorrow to purchase the whole bundle so make sure to snag your copy before it’s too late. If you are looking for some of the other patterns from the bundle that I sewed, here is my versions of the Jersey Glam Dress and Palazzo Pants I also sewed up a remix on the Jersey Glam Dress and the Extraordinary Girl Top. For even more inspiration head over to the Sew Fab Bundle Facebook page to see testers and other bloggers sharing their version.
Rocking the Sew Fab Bundle
As a designer in the Sew Fab Bundle Sale I got the full bundle about a week before the sale went live. I had these grand plans to sew up the whole collection and blog about them individually and then I realized my reality was much less ambitious. I am pretty happy to say that I have sewn up 3 of my fellow designers patterns and hope to get a few more done before the sale is over.

I can’t believe it’s time again for another Sew Fab Pattern Sale, can you? It feels like the time in between sales just gets shorter and shorter! I know that many of you have been keeping up with sale updates through the Sew Fab newsletter, and have been eagerly awaiting this bundle… I think you’re going to be really excited!
Ballard Blog Tour Day 13
For the last two weeks I have had a great group of bloggers join me to share their versions of the Ballard pattern. I hope you have had as much fun as me seeing all these great Ballards, not to mention the shirts that Allie of Indiesew made.
Wrapping up our pattern tour is Sara of Made by Sara and this peek of her shirt is so beautiful.
You have to head over to her blog to see the finished shirt.
Ballard Blog Tour Day 12
Rita of Conversas de Hermanas is joining the tour this morning and she didn’t just make one version she had to make a second one after seeing Allie’s fabulous version with an open back but no band on her blog.
I just love seeing more of this version of the shirt.
You can find more pictures of not only this version but also the original version she sewed on her blog.
Ballard Blog Tour Day 11
Today we have not one but two ladies sharing their Ballard tops and they are both so great!
Mandalynn of Striped Swallow Designs shares my love for fabric mixing on a shirt. I love that she used a different fabric for the sleeves and bands than the rest of the shirt. Mandalynn also decided to do the overlaps in the back smaller than the pattern states so that the opening would be bigger and I love it!
I won’t ruin the back of this shirt for you so you have to head over to Mandalynns blog to see more pictures of her Ballard.
