Kids Clothes Week was a really great experience for me, it gave me a chance to stretch my skills, while also making clothes for my kids and trying patterns I have been putting off for months. I thought I would take the idea of kids clothes week and challenge myself to do a Boy’s Sewing Week since most of the clothes I usually sew are for my daughter. There is no shortage of super cute boys patterns out there it’s just a matter of narrowing down to what is reasonable in a week while also still handling my day job of being a mom.
My plan is to start the prep this weekend for all the patterns so I can hit the ground running Monday sewing up a bunch of cute clothes for Benny. I definitely plan to take advantage of the many sales going on for Black Friday and snatch up some patterns I have been eying for months.
The first step is to take a quick look through your patterns so you don’t end up buying a duplicate, because nothing is worse than spending the money on a pattern you already own. Thankfully all of my patterns are digital so it is pretty easy to just flip through the files verifying what’s in there.
Now comes the list making and the pattern buying, which is my favourite part. Some may say I am addicted to buying fabric and patterns I consider it an investment in the business.
Here is my game plan for the week:
BBC Vest by Shwin Designs
Best Harem Pants by Too Sweets
Clean Slate Pants by Blank Slate Patterns
Urban Unisex Hoodie by Heidi and Finn
There may be some Bimaa Sweaters thrown in there since I love the pattern so much and they translate to boys clothes so well.
Make sure to check back next week for reviews of the patterns I am sewing and the great finished products. Come follow me on Instagram and Twitter for a more up to the minute look at my progress. #boyssewingweek
